Dr. Katherine Mortati is a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology and the director of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and EEG lab. She joined the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at SUNY Downstate in 2008. Dr. Mortati completed medical school and Neurology residency at the MCP-Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She obtained fellowship training in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital of Harvard University in Boston. Prior to joining the faculty at SUNY Downstate, Dr. Mortati was an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at New York University. She is board certified in both Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology.
Dr. Mortati’s main interests include the comprehensive management of patients with epilepsy, EEG interpretation, and video-EEG monitoring. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society, and enjoys mentoring medical students and residents at SUNY Downstate.
