Philip Harris, MD

Dr. Harris is a board-certified Physiatrist with over thirty years of experience. He went to NYU School of Medicine where he became interested in PMR. He went on to do his Residency in PMR  at NYU . After graduating he went to work at Jamaica Hospital in Queens where he became Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. As Chairman he oversaw operations of a TBI unit, general rehab unit ,Prosthetics/Ortohics clinic , emg clinic and supervised Residents in both IN patient and Out patient settings.  IN 2003 he went to Brookdale where he served as Chairman of the Department of PMR for around 20 years.  Until its closure he served as the Medical Director of the Adult Day care Program.  Dr. Harris trained in acupuncture and utilized it for years to help manage his patients.  Earlier in his career he was active in the New York State Society of PMR, New York State Medical Society and  worked for IPRO. Throughout his career has been involved in Resident education. Dr Harris is committed to serving the underserved and has spent his career working at safety net hospitals.   At this time he is running some outpatient clinics, does in patient consults and teaches the PMR  Residents from Kingsbrook  faculty.
